DOROTHY was nominated for the CENTUR BETS PRODUCTION AWARD.

A Friend of Dorothy will celebrate its second birthday at the Montreal Fringe this year. This One Woman show about Judy Garland has toured to France, Edinburgh and all over the UK . Written by American Lucy Alibar Harrison , we are delighted to now bring the production across the Atlantic and closer to its roots. It will be performed by Laura Sydonie and directed by Peter Sowerbutts.

Laura switches between 8 different characters in the production including Garland 's mother, 8 year old fan Jonathan and her fragile PA Lucille. It explores the intricacies of success through the eyes of those around Garland as she leaps and crawls from child star to icon status.

Director Peter Sowerbutts said ‘The production has a wide and diverse appeal, as did Garland herself. Her strengths and weaknesses resonate with a contemporary audience as they, and she, are timeless. It's not a tribute, more a chance to see what we can learn from the highs and lows of a legend.'
